About Copan

The Copan region has long been know for its world-class Maya ruins, designated a Unesco World Heritage Site.

In recent years more and more visitors have come to appreciate the region for its natural attractions, as well.

When you plan a visit to Copan, we encourage you to schedule several days here - at least - to truly explore the wealth of attractions of our special valley.

The village of Copán Ruinas (pop. 7,000) lies just a kilometer west of the archaeological site, and is renowned for its charming Spanish colonial–style ambiance.
